Pricing

What drain lining costs, and what decides it

Priced on the survey, agreed before we start

No two drains are alike, so lining is priced once the survey shows what yours needs: how much pipe is affected, what condition it is in and how easy it is to reach. The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work.

How a lining job runs, from the first call to the last check

Six steps, and you decide at each one.

You call and we ask the right questions

We take down what you can tell us over the phone, and for most jobs we can give you the price, or our labour rate, before we set off.

We put a camera down and find the cause

We recommend a survey only where it is needed and agree it with you first, then you get the footage, the photos and a written report.

We explain it and you decide

We tell you what we found and what lining would cost before anything starts, and you choose whether we fix it on site or book it in.

We line the drain from the inside

Where the drain allows, the work goes through the existing pipe rather than a trench, using the method that suits your drain.

We survey it again and leave it clean

We check the result on camera, then leave the site cleaned, tidied and sanitised.

You are covered by the guarantee

The work carries a 25-year guarantee on qualifying repairs, and the manufacturer warranties are registered by us.

What people worry about before their drain is lined

Answered here, so nobody has to ask when we arrive.

  • Will you dig up my garden or drive?

Most cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside, so nothing gets dug up. If your survey shows the drain needs digging, we tell you before anything starts and you decide.

  • Will the bill be more than I was told?

The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work. If we find more, we explain it and price it first.

  • Will you leave a mess?

Every site is left cleaned, tidied and sanitised, whatever the job.

Drain lining: questions we get asked

Answered in the first line, then the detail.

How much does drain lining cost?

We do not publish a figure, because the amount of pipe affected, its condition and how easy it is to reach change from drain to drain. Lining is priced once the survey shows what yours needs. The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work.

Can you line a drain pipe without digging?

Most cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside, so nothing gets dug up. The survey footage shows whether yours is one of them. If it is not, we tell you and explain what the alternative involves before anything starts.

What is the difference between drain lining and patch lining?

Full lining covers the length of the pipe, and patch lining repairs one localised section. Patch lining is the right call when one section has failed and the rest of the pipe is sound. The survey tells us which your drain needs.

Do I need a camera survey before lining a drain pipe in Dorset?

We recommend one where it is needed and agree it with you first. It comes at a price, which we tell you before it happens. You get the footage, the photos and a written report, not just a look at a screen.

How long does drain lining last, and how long does it take?

We will not put a lifespan or a time on it before we have seen the drain. What we can say is that the work carries a 25-year guarantee on qualifying repairs, and that we tell you how long your job will take once the survey is done.

Are you a drain lining company that covers my area?

We are based in Ringwood and work across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, and the towns listed below each have their own page. Call us and we will tell you whether we can come to you, and for most jobs we can give you a price, or our labour rate, before we set off.

Before anyone digs

Drain lining: repairing the pipe from the inside

A camera survey has found a crack, roots working in or a slipped joint, and the next thing you hear is that the drive or garden has to come up. It often does not. Drain lining (CIPP, short for cured-in-place pipe) repairs the pipe from the inside, so the old drain stays where it is and gets a new lining. Most cracked or leaking drains can be lined this way, but what suits yours depends on the footage, and we use the correct method for the drain, which is sometimes digging. We are based in Ringwood and work across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

  • A crack, root ingress or a slipped joint, repaired without a trench where the drain allows
  • A camera survey first, so the work matches what the footage shows
  • Your choice: fix it on site or book it in

What you can see, and whether lining is the answer

We diagnose before we quote, so you are not sold lining for a problem a clear would fix.

  • An open rectangular inspection chamber in a paved drive with dark standing water in it and its ribbed cast-iron cover lifted

A drain that keeps blocking after it has been cleared

What it actually isIt can be something passing through, or a crack, roots or a slipped joint catching what goes past. A camera survey shows which.

What it needsIf it is debris, clearing it is the smaller job and we say so. If the survey finds a crack, roots or a slipped joint, lining may fix it from the inside.

  • A CCTV camera tablet showing a network of fine roots covering the wall of a drain pipe 0.5 metres in

Roots showing on the survey footage

What it actually isRoots work their way in through a crack or a joint, which is known as root ingress.

What it needsLining repairs the pipe from the inside. We agree the plan and the price with you before we start, and you choose now or later.

  • A CCTV monitor and yellow push-rod camera reel set up beside an open square brick chamber on a tarmac drive, the cable

    A joint out of line

What it actually isA displaced joint is where two lengths of pipe no longer meet squarely, so the run is no longer sealed or smooth.

What it needsFull lining or patch lining, depending on how far the problem runs. If it is one section, patch lining is the smaller repair.

  • A CCTV monitor on a reel frame on a lawn beside an open brick chamber, the screen showing a cracked clay pipe

    A cracked or leaking drain

What it actually isA crack lets waste water out and can let roots in, and the footage shows where it is and how long it runs.

What it needsMost cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside, so nothing gets dug up. We will not guess how long the work takes before we have seen the drain.

Full lining, patch lining or digging: which does your drain need?

You choose on what the camera survey shows, not on what suits us. Patch lining is the right call when one section has failed and the rest of the pipe is sound, and digging is the right call when the survey shows the drain is beyond lining.

Lining a drain pipe in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire

CIPP stands for cured-in-place pipe. A lining is fitted inside the existing pipe, so the old drain becomes the shell for a new one instead of being dug out. Drain pipe lining covers the full length of a run, while drain patch lining works the same way over one localised section, which suits a pipe with a single defect in otherwise sound pipework. The camera survey decides which of the two your drain needs, or whether it needs neither, and we would rather tell you that before you pay for the wrong one.

David and Cris, the two engineers behind DC Drainage Solutions, have twenty years in drainage between them, and they are currently completing Renoline pipe-lining training. We are members of the NADC (National Association of Drainage Contractors), and our engineers are EUSR-carded. Our lining and repair work carries a 25-year guarantee on qualifying repairs, and the manufacturer warranties are registered by us. We are a Ringwood drain lining company that works across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, lining drain pipes for homeowners and landlords who want the fault repaired without a trench.

If you are comparing drain lining contractors, or searching for drain lining near me, ask each one what they will send you after the survey. We send the footage, the photos and a written report, and the price we agree before we start is the price you pay unless you approve extra work.
