Pricing

What CCTV drain surveys cost, and when you will know

Priced before we set off

We do not print a price for CCTV drain surveys, because what a survey costs depends on the drain in front of us: how much of it needs filming and how easy it is to reach. Ring us first and we will give you the price, or our labour rate, before we set off. The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work.

  • No call-out fee, and quotes are free
  • Price or labour rate given before we set off, for most jobs

How a CCTV drain survey runs

We agree the price before we set off

Ring us first: for most jobs we can give you the price, or our labour rate.

We arrive and talk it through on site

We aim to be with you within 60 minutes. We would rather diagnose on site than guess over the phone.

We agree the survey, then film the drain

A survey is only recommended where it is needed, and it is priced and agreed with you before the camera goes down.

We explain what we found

We tell you what is wrong, and you decide whether we fix it now or book it in.

You get the footage, photos and report

All three are sent to you, and the site is left cleaned, tidied and sanitised.

Buster Marrow

Cameron Doe

David come over to sort out a blocked waste pipe for us. He was great from start to finish and left the place spotless once work was complete. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again

The things people ask before they book

Answered here, so nobody has to ask when we arrive.

  • Will you dig up my garden or drive to find the problem?

No. The camera goes down the drain, so nothing is dug up to look. If a repair is needed, most cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside.

  • Will the bill be bigger than I was told?

The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work. If a survey finds more, we explain it and price it first, and you choose now or later.

  • Will you leave a mess?

Every site is left cleaned, tidied and sanitised.

CCTV drain surveys: your questions answered

Money questions first, then the survey itself.

Is there a call-out fee for a CCTV drain survey?

No. There is no call-out fee, so you pay for the work and not for us turning up. Quotes are free, and for most jobs we can give you the price, or our labour rate, before we set off.

Will the price change once you start?

The price we agree before we start is the price you pay, unless you approve extra work. If we find something that needs more, we tell you what it is and what it costs first, and you choose whether to go ahead now or book it in.

Who offers CCTV drain surveys near me in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire?

We do, from our base in Ringwood, across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. We aim to be with you within 60 minutes.

What do I get after a CCTV drain survey?

You get the footage, the photos and a full written report, sent to you. That means you can see the fault for yourself and keep the record, rather than simply being told about it.

Do I need a CCTV survey every time a drain blocks?

No. We only recommend a camera survey where it is needed, and we discuss it with you and agree it first. A one-off blockage with an obvious cause may only need clearing, and we will say so.

Will you have to dig up my garden to fix what the survey finds?

Not necessarily. Most cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside, so nothing gets dug up, and we use the correct method for the drain. Where a drain does have to be dug, we explain why and price it first.

What a survey tells you

CCTV drain surveys: seeing the fault before anyone digs

Quotes are free, and for most jobs we can give you the price, or our labour rate, before we set off. A CCTV drain survey is what you book when a drain keeps blocking, smells or backs up and nobody can say why. We send a camera down the pipe, find the cause and explain it on site, and you decide whether we fix it now or book it in. If the survey turns up more work, we tell you what it is and what it costs first, so nothing extra happens without your say-so. Based in Ringwood, we carry out surveys across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, and you are sent the footage, the photos and a written report, not just a look at a screen.

What the drain is doing, and what a survey will show

Symptoms people ring about, what may be behind them, and what happens next.

  • A CCTV camera tablet showing a dense tangle of tree roots blocking the inside of a drain

    The same drain keeps blocking

What it actually isClearing treats the blockage, but not always what caused it. A crack, a displaced joint or roots getting in can bring it back.

What it needsA survey shows which it is. If the pipe itself is at fault, most cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside, so nothing is dug up.

  • A closed square cast-iron cover set in a tarmac side path beside a red brick wall and black downpipe

A smell from the drain or manhole

What it actually isA smell can come from more than one place along the run, so we do not guess from the surface.

What it needsThe camera shows what is going on inside the pipe. If the answer is a small job, we tell you that rather than recommend more.

  • A CCTV camera tablet showing silt and debris built up inside a drain, 0.7 metres along the pipe

Water backing up or draining slowly

What it actually isA build-up of fat, silt or debris, or a fault in the pipe such as roots or a displaced joint.

What it needsWe clear it, then a survey shows whether the pipe is the reason. If it is only build-up, clearing may be all it needs.

  • An engineer kneeling at an open rectangular brick inspection chamber in a concrete drive with a camera cable running to it

Buying a property and unsure about the drains

What it actually isWhat is under the ground cannot be seen from the surface.

What it needsA homebuyer drain survey puts a camera down before you commit, and the footage, photos and written report are sent to you.

  • A CCTV camera tablet showing a break and void in the wall of a drain pipe, 0.2 metres from the camera

Told the drain needs digging up

What it actually isA cracked or leaking drain does not always need a dig.

What it needsMost cracked or leaking drains can be lined from the inside. We show you the footage so you can see the fault yourself, then explain the options and price them first.

A CCTV survey, or just clearing the drain?

If a blockage has an obvious cause and does not come back, clearing it may be all you need, and we will say so rather than recommend a camera. A survey earns its place when the problem keeps returning or the cause is not clear.

CCTV drain surveys near me: how a survey works

A CCTV drain survey is the way to stop guessing about a drain. A camera is sent along the pipe and what it sees is recorded, so the fault can be located and looked at rather than assumed. That matters most in three situations: a drain that blocks again after it has been cleared, a smell or backing up with no obvious cause, and a property you are about to buy, where a homebuyer drain survey shows the condition of the drains before you commit.

The result is not a verbal opinion. You are sent the footage, the photos and a full written report, so you can see the fault for yourself, keep the record and compare it with any other quote you are given. Where the survey points to a repair, the options are laid out and priced first. That may be patch lining for a localised fault or CIPP lining for a longer run, both trenchless where the drain allows, or excavation and pipe replacement where it does not. We use the correct method for the drain, and you decide whether we go ahead now or book it in.
